Does blogging help?

1. How easy has it been to set up your Independent Study blog and to get used to posting things on it? Were you given enough support in doing it? What other help would have been useful?

I think i was really easy starting it up, its was just trying to keep up with it throughtout the year, and the support of the blog buddies is really good.

2. How did the blog help with your research? Did the blog motivate you to do more and better research? How? Why?

The blog really helped me with my research because it was all there infront of me when i needed it, which is easier than having it on paper and loosing important research.

3. Is it useful having all the Independent Study/blog tasks posted on the Macguffin blog? Does it make it more likely that you will get them done?

Well if you have problems with your internet, which is whats going on with me at the moment then it is an issue getting work done or looking at your research. But when it is working, it is more likley i would get it done, as its seems easier.

4. How often (honestly!) do you check the Macguffin blog? (Remember, it should be at least twice/week).

Lol, honestly at the moment its only when im at school, but when i had my computer i did cheak it alot, a few times a week, depending on how busy i am etc.

5. Has it been useful being able to see and access everyone else’s research and planning through their blogs?

it does seem very useful but i havent really been looking at other peoples blogs, although thats because my topic is very different from most peoples, but i have taken a look some times, and there are interest points people make.

6. How do you feel about the fact that your teacher can keep a close check on your progress through accessing your blog? Is it too intrusive and controlling or is it encouraging and supportive?

Urmm, i dont actually mind, i thought i might find it abit intrusive, but its fine, it is quiet supportive.

7. How useful have the comments been that you received from…a. Macguffin, b. other students.

The comments have really help my work, when people comment on my blog and work i really take it in and try to fix problems with my work, and its nice to here from others (not just your teacher) to feed back on your work.

8. How has the blog helped with your essay planning? How useful was the blog when it came to writing the essay? Do you think your first draft is better because you have used a blog?

This has helped me with my essay planning, although with my actually essay, i was unable to complete it on the blog (i had to do it on paper) therefore i dont know.

9. How would you evaluate the quality of your blog? What could you have done better?

I dont think my blog is that good, recently i havent been posting up things, and much of my planning is on paper, although it still has come of alot of use. i could have posted up more of my work and preperation for the essay, which would have helped alot.

10. Do you think you will get a better final grade for your independent study through having used a blog?

ermm i dont know, im not really a 'bloggy' person, (because i dont have my computer!) but it has helped me while i have been on the net.

11. Which are the best three blogs? Why?

i would have to say Priya's blog is one of the best!! its soo cutie and the music is really good, im very proud of her.

12. Do you think next year’s Year 13s would benefit from setting up an Independent Study blog?

yeh!, definatley, dats if they use it properly.

13. Are there any negative aspects to preparing for an Independent Study using a blog?

if your internet flops then you are basically f'd up

14. What could be done to improve teaching and/or learning in future through blogs?

i donno really

15. Overall, are you pleased that we used blogs? Has it been interesting and enjoyable? Why? Why not?
